The man acused of causing a fatal crash that killed two people in Christchurch is now on bail.
Phillip Bannan, 22, was hospitalised after the crash on Thursday night.
Norman Fitt, 73, died in the crash and Deirdre Jordan, 67, died in hospital an hour later.
Mr Bannan has been charged with driving while disqualified.
He will next appear in the Christchurch District Court on 13 September. Police say more serious charges will be laid.
