TAB relaxed about bets on Pakistan cricket tour

9:31 am on 2 September 2010

The TAB is still planning to take bets on matches when the Pakistan cricket team tours New Zealand this summer.

Cricket administrators and police in Britain are investigating claims that the Pakistani cricketers bowled to order during the latest Test against England.

In Australia, the gambling regulator in the state of Victoria is considering whether betting on cricket games involving Pakistan should be banned.

But a New Zealand TAB bookmaker, Mark Stafford, says it doesn't offer spot-betting - the kind of bet at the centre of the current match- fixing investigation.

And he says the TAB has excellent systems for identifying unusual betting patterns.
