The New Zealand women's rugby team has beaten England 13-10 to win their fourth World Cup.
The score was 7-0 at halftime in London on Sunday after a try by winger Carla Hohepa. Second five Kelly Brazier kicked the conversion.
The BBC reports the Black Ferns, who were victorious over England in the finals of both 2002 and 2006, were reduced to 13 players in the first half after two yellow cards.
After New Zealand skipper Melissa Ruscoe was sent to the sin bin early in the second half, a try by Charlotte Barras allowed England to fight back to 10-10.
However, England infringed again at the breakdown and centre Kelly Brazier kicked a penalty, her second, to make it 10-13 with 14 minutes to go.
Despite a desperate last five minutes, the Black Ferns held on comfortably for the win.
Veteran first five Anna Richards, 45, describes their fourth Rugby World Cup title as "somewhat surreal".
Earlier, Australia sealed third place in the competition with a 22-8 victory over France.
IRB award for Hohepa
New Zealand's Carla Hohepa has been named the International Rugby Board's women's personality of the year.
She was presented with the award after the final in London.
Hohepa, 25, finished the tournament as joint leading try scorer.
Prime Minister John Key and Opposition leader Phil Goff have praised the Black Ferns for their fourth consecutive title.
Mr Key says it's a huge achievement for the Black Ferns and shows the strength of women's rugby in New Zealand.
Mr Goff says it was a hard fought victory, and few teams can lay claim to such an impressive winning record.
