Fifty nations have confirmed they'll take part in the world rowing championships beginning on Lake Karapiro at the end of next month.

The biggest three teams will be from Germany, Britain and the United States.

New Zealand will have 18 crews and 55 athletes competing, with entries in 13 of the 14 Olympic classes.

Event chief executive Tom Mayo says that with more than a month to go before entries close, the total number of countries competing could yet rise.
