Selling liquor to minors has been in the forefront of offences caught in New Zealand by a trans-Tasman police operation targeting alcohol-related crime.
The 12-hour operation ran from 6pm on Friday and is the second time New Zealand and Australian authorities have combined to crack down on alcohol.
Early results from the New Zealand operation show more than 100 breaches of the Sale of Liquor Act, and 30 instances of stores selling alcohol to minors.
Police in Auckland say this included one major supermarket in Counties Manukau that is likely to face a five-day suspension of alcohol sales, and a one-month suspension of the manager's licensing certificate.
More than 31,000 drivers were breath-tested during the period, with 200 people registering over the limit.
Police say early indications suggest alcohol-related arrests for assault were down compared to last year's exercise, dropping from 206 to 127.
In Australia, New South Wales and Queensland were the worst states with more than 1000 arrests and charges between them.
