This year's recipients of one of the country's richest non-fiction writing prizes, the CLL Writers' Award, have been named.

The awards are financed from copyright licensing revenue collected on behalf of authors and publishers.

Publisher and writer Dame Christine Cole Catley has been awarded $35,000 to write her autobiography, entitled Getting Ready, which

the judges say promises to be both highly personal and scrupulously candid.

The other $35,000 award has gone to the satirist, columnist and author Steve Braunias, who plans to publish a series of observational essays about 22 specific locations around the country.
