Police have confirmed that a body found on the Kapiti Coast on Sunday is that of Raymond Piper.
The 23-year-old went missing from an address in Paraparaumu on 15 May.
Police discovered the body in bush in the Maungakotukutuku Valley.
The head of the investigation, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam, says a post-mortem found Mr Piper died from multiple stab wounds to the chest.
His body will be returned to his family on Tuesday. The local iwi has placed a ban or rahui over the area where it was found for the next three days.
Four people have been charged in connection with the case.
