Invercargill Mayor Tim Shadbolt hopes a better and stronger building will replace the Southland Stadium, which crumbled under the weight of snow.

The stadium collapsed on 18 September. Three investigations are underway into the cause.

The trust that runs the stadium will on Wednesday start planning its rebuilding, following approval of a claim by its insurance company for up to $25 million.

The findings of the investigations into the collapse are expected to be completed in about three weeks time.

Mr Shadbolt, says he is eager to see the findings to ensure the new stadium is built stronger than before.
