Police investigating the killing of a Kapiti man have withdrawn a charge against the teenage son of the man who has admitted murdering him.

The body of Raymond Piper, 23, who went missing on 15 May, was found on Sunday near Paraparaumu.

In the Porirua District Court on Wednesday, Louie Anderson, 17, was to face one charge of being party to the murder of Mr Piper.

Police say there is no reasonable prospect of conviction, taking into account the evidence now available.

In court on Tuesday, his father, Ainsley Anderson, 51, admitted murdering Mr Piper.

Police told the court that Anderson led them to Mr Piper's remains. He will be sentenced in the High Court on 26 November.
