Taranaki will continue to host WOMAD after securing more than $1 million in sponsorship.

The annual World of Music, Arts and Dance festival has been staged in New Plymouth since 2003, but has been struggling to break even, and organisers were considering shifting it to another city.

On Wednesday, it was announced that TSB Bank has joined long-time partners Shell and Todd Energy in backing the event.

Taranaki Arts Festival Trust chief executive Suzanne Porter says the support has secured the festival for the city for the next three years.

Womad 2011 will run from 18 - 20 March and will featuring artists from 17 countries.
