A man charged over a street assault last weekend has been remanded in custody by a Nelson District Court judge.
Akuhata Taylor Tihi, 17, is charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and appeared in Nelson District Court.
Brent Powell, 48, was found unconscious in a pool of blood in Hardy Street last Saturday morning.
He had numerous facial fractures and underwent reconstructive surgery this week.
Mr Tihi was denied bail and remanded until 15 October.
Two other men, aged 18, are also being interviewed by police.
