Extra fire engines are being sent to a scrub fire north of Kawhia in Waikato.
A patch of pohutukawa and scrub 100 metres square is ablaze.
A fire engine from Kawhia has so far been the only appliance there,
but others are now being sent from Otorohanga, Te Awamutu and Pirongia.
Another scrub fire is burning at Ngunguru in Northland. Two extra fire engines and a tanker are on their way to the scene.
