Public's view sought on freshwater proposals

7:33 am on 21 October 2010

A roadshow to outline major changes to the management of freshwater in New Zealand began in Nelson on Wednesday night.

The Land and Water Forum has spent more than a year considering reforms in the wake of growing concerns about water shortages and deteriorating water quality.

They have agreed on 53 recommendations to put to the Government, including calls for limits to be set on water allocation.

The forum will visit about 15 centres during the next six months to present its proposals and seek feedback.
