Northland primary teachers reject pay offer

6:30 am on 22 October 2010

A meeting of more than 100 Northland primary school teachers has rejected the Government's latest pay offer, and looked at options for industrial action.

New Zealand Educational Institute members around the country are considering their response to an offer of a pay rise of 1.8% in November next year and a one-off payment of $1000.

James Brown, who chaired the Whangarei meeting, says all but a handful of teachers gave the deal the thumbs down and were split 50-50 on whether to strike this term or in the New Year.
