A man has admitted two charges of manslaughter following a police chase in Auckland, which left two people dead.

Aaron Tulafono, 21, crashed into a lamp post, flipping his vehicle onto its roof after fleeing from the police in September.

He had reached speeds of up to 130km per hour. The pursuit was abandoned but Tulafono, a disqualified driver, crashed soon after.

Two passengers died and two were injured.

Tulafono pleaded guilty to two charges of manslaughter and five other charges in the Auckland District Court on Tuesday morning.

He will be sentenced in November.
