Farmers warned against complacency over food production

Farmers have been warned to guard against the sort of complacency that assumes their future is assured because they produce food that the rest of the world needs.

The advice came from Foreign Affairs and Trade Secretary John Allen, when he spoke to Federated Farmers' Meat and Fibre Council on Tuesday.

He said the reality is that New Zealand needs to worker harder than any other nation on the planet to get access to markets,
