Police are investigating the sudden death of a 20-year-old soldier based at Linton Army Camp.

They say the body of Ethan Roy George Hall was found by a tradesman in an alley in central Palmerston North, at about midday on Wednesday.

Police believed he died from a fall. A post mortem will be held, but the death is not thought to be suspicious.
