Home detention sentence for drug money laundering

The former partner of a man at the centre of a methamphetamine ring operating out of Auckland's Sky City Casino has escaped a jail term.

Ling Hui Yeh was sentenced at the High Court in Auckland on Friday to 12 months home detention after being found guilty of conspiracy to supply and two charges of money laundering.

Her former partner and the operation's ringleader, Tac Kin Voong, with whom she has two sons, was sentenced in July to 18 years in jail for 12 drug offences.

Yeh sat quietly in the dock with her head bowed while being sentenced on Friday.

The Crown says she laundered $190,000 and conspired to sell 252 grams of methamphetamine.

A psychiatrist's report described her as a "puppet on a string".
