A gunman responsible for a shooting in Wairoa on Friday, is still at large.
A man, 48, who is a senior member of the Mongrel Mob, is in a stable condition in hospital after being shot on the forecourt of a service station at 6.30pm.
An extra eight police officers, including members of the armed offenders squad from Gisborne and Napier, were stationed in Wairoa on Saturday night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Scott says there have been four shootings in the town this year, all gang related.
He describes the latest shooting as a brazen attack in a public place in daylight hours.
Police were reviewing security camera footage from the service station on Sunday.
