A tourist is in hospital with critical injuries after she was hit by a bus in Rotorua.
Police say the woman was hit at a busy intersection on Sunday afternoon by one of the buses in the public transport fleet, run by Reesby's Buses.
The company's owner, David Reesby says the woman walked out onto a crossing after the pedestrian light had changed and the bus was unable to stop in time.
He says the driver is traumatised and will be interviewed by the police on Monday.
The police Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit is investigating and the other members of the woman's tour group have been offered victim support services.
