Golden run for breeding industry

The New Zealand breeding industry says it is having a golden run in Australia.

Nine of the 24 horses to run in the 150th Melbourne Cup are New Zealand-bred, including the favourite So You Think, which pundits describe as unbeatable.

So You Think won the Cox Plate a week ago for the second consecutive year, and horses reared in New Zealand took all the top places in the Caulfield Cup.

Radio Trackside commentator Des Coppins says New Zealand is punching above its weight, being higher on the Group 1 elite stakes winners than it has been for many years.
