Commission warning during Rugby World Cup

3:40 pm on 2 November 2010

With the Rugby World Cup less than a year away, the Commerce Commission has warned it will go after any company that does not play fair.

The commission will undertake an education campaign about the obligations of companies under the Commerce Act and to consumers under fair trading and credit contract rules.

But the commission says it will not hesitate to take action against those who flout the law.

It will also educate rugby fans, in particular overseas visitors coming to New Zealand during the cup, about their rights.
