Kahui coroner to visit South Auckland suburbs

6:30 pm on 9 November 2010

A coroner investigating the death of the Kahui twins is due to make a site visit to a number of South Auckland suburbs on Tuesday morning.

Three-month-old Chris and Cru Kahui died after being admitted to Starship children's hospital in Auckland in June 2006.

The boys' father, Chris Kahui, was acquitted of their murder following a High Court trial in 2008.

The inquest has been under way since early October, but after Tuesday's visit it will be months before the hearing into the twins' deaths resumes.

Wellington-based coroner Garry Evans is likely to visit Middlemore Hospital, where the twins were taken before their death, and key locations in Papakura and Mangere.

Doctors will now assess the testimony given by family members and give evidence when the inquest continues in February.
