Three men charged in relation to a home invasion in Wellington on Monday night have appeared in the Lower Hutt District Court.
Shawn Staunton, Daniel Masoe and Paul Schuster were charged on several counts, including kidnapping and aggravated burglary, and remanded in custody to reappear in court next week.
Police say the men forced their way into a house in the suburb of Khandallah at about 10.45pm, armed with a long sword and a broom, and threatened the occupants while demanding cash and property from them.
One of their captives received hospital treatment overnight for injuries suffered in the attack but has since been discharged.
None of the accused men sought bail and Judge Anthony Walsh remanded them in custody until next week, when they'll appear in the Wellington District Court.
