Radiographers' union sees progress in talks

12:03 pm on 12 November 2010

The union representing radiographers believe it is moving closer to a resolution of the bitter pay dispute with District Health Boards.

The staff, who do x-rays, images and scans in public hospitals, called off a planned two-day nationwide strike at the eleventh hour on Monday, prompted by a new round of pay talks.

The APEX union says talks took place in Auckland on Tuesday and resumed on Thursday, allowing time for negotiators to gather extra information on Wednesday.

The talks continued on Friday and the union says there are signs of progress.

Radiographers and DHBs have been negotiating since August last year, and the union has been engaged in partial and full strike action since July this year.
