Radiographers continue strike action

Radiographers will continue strike action while they consult members on the likely outline of a new pay offer, their union says.

The workers, who do x-rays, images and scans at public hospitals, had called off a planned two-day strike this week, to enter more talks with District Health Boards.

Their union, APEX, said it believed they were getting closer to the a resolution of the long-running dispute. But delegates emerged from the talks on Friday saying strike action will continue while it consults members early next week.

The union also said it had identfied a $230,000 costing error by DHBs, which the boards accept had occurred.

However District Health Board representatives say it is not acceptable for the union to refuse to end strikes while it consults members.

The boards say they will table a new pay offer if strike action stops.
