Labour claims at least half a dozen more District Health Board chairpeople are to be stood down by the Health Minister.

The party's health spokesperson, Ruth Dyson, says the board heads are being replaced to make it easier for mergers to go ahead.

It's already been confirmed that Pat Snedden from Auckland District Health Board, Sir John Anderson from Capital and Coast in Wellington, and Errol Millar from the Southern DHB, will be replaced.

Ms Dyson claims other boards that stand to lose their chairpeople are West Coast, Canterbury, Hutt Valley, Counties Manukau, Lakes, Whanganui and Bay of Plenty.
