North Shore boards meet police about teenage parties

11:14 am on 17 November 2010

Four North Shore boards are meeting police on Wednesday about ways to stop drunken disorder arising from teenage beach parties in the area.

Two parties at beaches over the past two weekends have got out of control. Bottles were thrown at police and mailboxes set on fire.

Another party is planned for later this month and more than 3000 people on a facebook group claim they will attend.

Devonport-Takapuna Board chairman Chris Darby says it is essential to stop the parties.

He hopes the meeting will come up with a plan for how that can be done.
