Broadband rollout wanted asap by Auckland

7:18 am on 26 November 2010

Auckland Council is pushing the Government to deliver on its ultra-fast broadband rollout.

Its Economic Development Forum says nearly a third of the country's businesses are in and around Auckland.

A report for the forum says ultra-fast broadband would deliver benefits to the region of $900 million per year.

Chair Arthur Anae, says the Government is not moving fast enough and people are complaining bitterly.

Mr Anae says the Auckland Council will do everything it can to speed up the broadband roll-out.

He wants the new broadband services in Auckland by the middle of next year at the latest.
