A teenager has been accidentally shot while rabbit hunting with a friend on Banks Peninsula.
Police say a ricochet bullet struck the 15-year-old in the arm at about 8.30pm on Wednesday near the rural township of Little River.
They say his injuries are not life-threatening.
The boy has been taken to Christchurch Hospital for treatment.
