South Waikato iwi Ngati Raukawa has signed agreements with five Crown agencies on how they will work together in future.

Raukawa Settlement Trust chair Chris McKenzie says the agreements with the ministries of Fisheries, Conservation, Environment, Culture and Heritage and the Prime Minister's department, elevate the position of Ngati Raukawa within its rohe.

Mr McKenzie told Waatea News that Ngati Raukawa has signed a settlement giving it co-management of the Waikato River within its tribal boundaries, and is finalising the comprehensive settlement of its Treaty claims.
