The body of a teenager has been found in a creek north of Wellington.
Police say the 17-year-old had failed to turn up to work, and friends found his body near Rata Street in Wainuiomata at about 8pm on Sunday.
Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Steve Harwood says the group had been at a party in the area on Saturday evening and officers are speaking to people who were at the gathering to piece together the teenager's last movements.
He says a post-mortem is being carried and a scene examination was underway.
At this stage police are treating the case as an unexplained death.
