The condition of one of the two men seriously hurt in a gang fight in Gisborne on Friday night has improved.
Police say they hope to interview him on Sunday.
Both are in a stable condition in Waikato hospital with head injuries.
Detective Sergeant Steve Smith says he's confident early arrests will be made.
Friday's fight involved about a dozen Mongrel Mob and Black Power gang members.
