A new Maori business organisation in Rotorua got off to a rousing start when more than 130 mainly young people in business turned up for its launch on Saturday night.
Kaumatua Toby Curtis who is on the Takiwai Rotorua Maori Business network's working committee told Waatea News he was surprised by the energy and ethusiasm coming through from the younger generation towards business.
"We're seeking a new breed of Maori entrepeneurs," he said. "They are well qualified and articulate."
Mr Curtis said it augers well as Treaty settlement assets play an increasing role in the iwi's future.
