Japanese project not going ahead

8:59 am on 27 October 2008

A Japanese company that was planning a big investment in North Otago is not going ahead with the venture.

Nikken Seil, a food and health products company, was developing a business park outside Oamaru, for an organic food production and processing plant.

The company's plans were put on hold after the death of its founder and chairman Dr Hirotomo Ochi three years ago.

It has since announced its intention to move out of North Otago and is now selling its assets in the region.
