A former head girl of St Joseph's Maori Girls' College has been appointed the principal of another Maori boarding school, Hato Paora, near Feilding.
Debi Marshall Lobb had been the acting principal at the Catholic boys' boarding school.
She told Waatea News that her brothers attended the school and being the first woman to head a Maori boys' boarding school has not been a problem.
Previously Ms Lobb was a Maori studies lecturer at Massy University and the principal at Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Manawatu for 10 years.
