Live grenade found at Auckland Airport mail centre

Defence Force staff have taken a live grenade from Auckland Airport for further examination.

It was found by a worker at the International Mail Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

The building was evacuated and cordoned off but staff have now been allowed to return. Laurence Stevens Drive has also reopened.

Flights and passengers at the airport's terminals were not affected during the evacuation.
