The police in Waikato say the death of an elderly man whose body was discovered on a smouldering fire heap on Tuesday morning is not suspicious.
Emergency services were called to a rural house in Ohaupo south of Hamilton at about 8.30 after the 76-year-old man's body was found.
Paramedics found the man dead in the backyard of the property.
The police believe he died some time in the morning, shortly before he was found.
The case has been forwarded to the coroner.
