The manager of a flooded Department of Conservation campsite in Marlborough doubts it will be able to reopen this summer.
The Pelorus Bridge campsite near Havelock was inundated by water five metres deep on Tuesday morning during a storm.
Ninety-eight campers were woken at 4am and told to abandon their tents.
DoC camp manager Craig Neal says the flood left 10cm of silt and debris across the whole site, which needs to be removed.
He says the summer might be over for the campsite before it really began.
