Rain easing in lower south

9:11 am on 3 January 2011

MetService says heavy rain is easing over the Otago headwaters, as a front over the south of the South Island is forecast to move north and weaken.

It says a further 100 - 120mm is likely over the ranges of South Westland up to 3pm on Monday.

A further 60mm is likely near the Divide.

Rivers and streams are likely to rise quickly.
