A man has died in the surf at the Coromandel town of Tairua.
Emergency services were called to the scene near the Tairua Surf Club at about 2.40pm on Monday.
The death of the 58-year-old, whose family were with him at the time, is believed to be the result of a medical condition.
His death has been reported to the coroner.
