The Holiday Parks Association says it has been a great season so far for camping grounds, with most fully booked over the holiday period.
The association says the Coromandel, Northland and Bay of Plenty areas have enjoyed a busier season than a year ago.
Holiday Parks Association chief executive Fergus Brown says some tourists have had to be turned away from full Coromandel camp sites, and although that busy period is over, booking ahead is still advised.
Mr Brown says great weather has allowed people to stay longer than they normally would, though the Golden Bay area suffered initially from rain.
He says camping in tents is growing in popularity due to bargains on camping equipment.
