A woman who suffered serious head injuries in an apparent hit-and-run in Christchurch has told police the driver aimed for her deliberately.

Police say the 53-year-old woman from Dunedin was hit just after 4am on Thursday near the Christchurch Casino, on the corner of Salisbury and Durham Streets.

Detective Sergeant Craig Farrant says the woman claims she was deliberately run down by the driver.

Officers will look at footage from CCTV cameras in the area, he says.
