One of the country's biggest real estate companies says the average rent in Auckland hit a record high in November and December.
Figures from Barfoot & Thompson show the average rent climbed to $411 per week at the end of last year.
Managing director Peter Thompson says that shows the supply of rental properties is continuing to tighten. He says landlords are increasing rents because they know there is a limited supply of properties.
