Police searching for a missing diver in Porirua's Titahi Bay say they are relying on two sightings and clothing found in the area to help find him.
Colin Smithies, 49, was reported missing on Monday night, with an aerial, land and marine search launched on Tuesday.
Police say the first sighting of Mr Smithies was halfway between Windley Avenue and where his backpack was found about a kilometre south of Titahi Bay beach.
Inspector Mike Wright says a fisherman off shore also saw Mr Smithies on Monday evening, and the search is now focussed on further south, at that site.
Mr Wright says the police have found two pieces of clothing and are hoping Mr Smithies' family can confirm if it is his.
