The MP for Coromandel, Sandra Goudie, will retire from politics at this year's general election.
The National MP has held the seat for the past nine years after winning the electorate off former Green Party co-leader, Jeanette Fitzsimons, in 2002.
Ms Goudie is the chair of the law and order select committee.
