1600 pairs of gumboots donated to Queensland

9:31 pm on 14 January 2011

Some 1600 pairs of gumboots donated by The Warehouse for flood clean-up workers will be on their way to Queensland courtesy of Qantas.

The consignment was organised by a New Zealand MP who says there is a chronic shortage of gumboots in Australia.

Dunedin South MP Clare Curran says Queenslanders are being warned not to wear jandals and gumboots will be essential once the clean-up begins.

The gumboots will be flown to Melbourne via Auckland on Sunday and then transported free by truck to Queensland, courtesy of Toll Group in Australia.
