The Silver Ferns have beaten England 42-40 in the first netball test in Manchester.
The New Zealanders led by four goals at quarter time, five at half time and seven points at three-quarter time in their match on Sunday morning (NZ time).
England closed in late in the game, but the Silver Ferns' defenders impressed and the visitors held on for the win.
The second test is in Nottingham on Tuesday morning.
