The Fire Service says seven fire engines were at the scene, damping down hot spots on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, the Southern Rural Fire District's Incident controller says a large vegetation fire that has been contained between Tuatapere and Papatotara could take weeks before it completely out.
The fire was reported at about 7pm on Saturday.
The Southern Rural Fire District's Incident controller, Andy Roberts, says about 25 fire fighters were at the scene on Sunday, along with four water tankers and three helicopters with monsoon buckets.
He says the fire has been contained to about 100-hectares, but he says it could take weeks for fire fighters to dampen down hot spots.
Mr Roberts says the blaze destroyed several buildings, some which are at Rarakau Lodge on the Hump Ridge Track.
He says it's not known how the fire started but it will be investigated.
