7:03 pm on 16 January 2011

A man has been charged with manslaughter, following the discovery of a body in suburban New Plymouth.

The 44-year-old man's body was found on Saturday at his flat on Govett Avenue, with no sign of injury.

A post-mortem will be carried out on Monday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward says it appears the 47-year-old man was known to the victim.

He is due to appear in the New Plymouth District Court on Monday.

Police say they are being assisted by another man who lives at the flat, and detectives aren't looking for anybody else in relation to the death.
